Teeth-in-an-Hour
After a preliminary visit and i-CAT scan, we will have all the information to know whether this procedure is possible for you. Specifically, if you have sufficient bone thickness for your new, implanted roots and if all the teeth are already removed from your upper or lower jaw (or both), then you are an ideal candidate for this unique service. If our data says you are, we can then schedule an appointment for your procedure after a couple of weeks (to allow us to make the necessary preparations). On that day, you come in with an empty mouth and leave—an hour later—with a new set of teeth, anchored firmly in your jawbone, prepared just for you with precision and care.
Teeth-in-a-Day
Not everyone can come in for teeth and make the steakhouse by lunchtime, but with sufficient bone thickness, most people can be scheduled for this day-long reconstruction of some large portion or all of their teeth. Like with the Teeth-in-an-Hour, several weeks of technical preparation are needed before the actual procedure, but in the hands of our expert team you exchange one day of your life for a mouth full of the teeth of youth.
Musser & Richards also replaces single teeth and smaller sections of teeth with dental implants, though often a larger operation would be more cost effective. Schedule a consultation or visit one of the clinic’s regular free seminars to find out what would work best for your dental situation.
Bone Grafting and Other Preparatory Treatments
Though most people come to us with sufficient bone thickness, some have let the rootless, toothless years go on too long for an immediate new set of teeth, but advances in bone and tissue grafting, sinus augmentation, zygoma implants, and the use of platelet-rich plasma allow us to regrow what the years have stolen and turn back the clock on their smile.
The most natural place to find new bone for your jaw is, well, another place in your jaw. These highly successful grafts (called autogenous grafts) are done on a routine basis, are not rejected by the body, and, done with soft tissue autogenous grafts, restore a more normal bone anatomy that can receive and anchor the dental implant. An even more exciting breakthrough is the use of platelet-rich plasma from your own body to deliver growth factors right to the bone, causing the jawbone to grow, heal, and improve its quality more quickly and naturally. We have been working with Harvest Technology (harvesttech.com) to successfully perform this bone therapy for almost a decade now.
Another small roadblock to some people’s implants is the enlargement of the maxillary sinuses that happens naturally with age and is made worse by the absence of tooth roots. These sinuses are directly above the upper jawbone, but expand downward with age. If the sinuses have already come down so far that the dental implant would not be well-anchored, we can reposition the maxillary sinus and retake the space that used to belong to the upper jaw, making it serviceable again for the roots of teeth. This sinus lifting, or sinus augmentation, can be done in conjunction with grafts, platelet plasma treatments, and/or direct artificial implants into the heavy bone adjacent to the sinus (the zygoma).
Though most of our patients do not need these extra steps, we have taken in quite a few seventy and eighty year olds who have little jawbone left and sent them on their way with a stronger jaw and teeth than they’ve ever had. Was the procedure worth it to them? Ask them, and watch them spread their lips and smile.
If it’s not clear to you yet, we at Florida Dental Implants & Oral Surgery believe in what we do, both in its superior quality and its ability to reach the deepest needs of our patients—their financial, emotional, and physical needs for a strong, beautiful set of teeth that really works. Come to one of our free seminars. Bring all your questions, your fears, and your “what ifs,” and we’ll bring both the answers and the stories that we live for, stories of lives we have changed in a day or an hour.
